MY STUDY GENIUS / 2020
Innovating the management of education with tech
MyStudyGenius is a management platform for private schools to control courses, contacts and finances. Tailored for small to medium-sized institutions, the solution combines a course planner tool, a smart calendar designed especially for educational purposes and an easy contact manager, and guarantees a process that complies with the new EU Data Protection regulation.
My role
As a cofounder and leader of product development, I supervised a team of three developers, took care of timeline and deliverables, conducted usability tests with freelance tutors and school managers and designed the user experience of a web application.

User platform (UX design)
MyStudyGenius was developed as a web application, without a burdensome onboarding and installation process.
During the user research phase, the major pain point mentioned was the difficulty of keeping attendance and schedules updated throughout the month. In adult education, the niche where MyStudyGenius was designed to be more effective, the rates of rescheduling are high, and educators find themselves dealing with large amounts of bureaucratic work and little time for class preparation. Following that, problems with finance: for several users, the invoicing was also an important issue in daily routine.
MyStudyGenius offered, then, an integrated solution. The course planner and smart calendar worked connected, to guarantee the best learning experience for students and educators. The smart calendar was designed specially to fulfil educational needs while the contact management tool brought information about invoices, attendance lists and notes for better classes and students' preferences. All this crafted in a process that complies with the new EU Data Protection regulation.
Prior to the design and implementation, the definition of the user personas was developed in a team workshop, conducted by me. Initial ideas, business opportunities and the analysis of key results were constantly discussed in the group as well.
Branding
MyStudyGenius brand is a flexible system, that can be used in different combinations of bright and fresh colours. Creating a vivid brand was the goal. The whole education sector is rather serious, and MyStudyGenius intended to represent an alternative.
The branding project was executed by external partners, under my supervision. Branding rollout was mostly executed and tested by me.
Events & public speaking
During existence, MyStudyGenius was awarded in different occasions. In 2017, the company was awarded by the European Union as one of the upcoming startups of Schleswig-Holstein and selected by the Microsoft Innovation team for a week of training. In 2018, the team pitched at the Hanover Messe.

PrograMaria is an initiative that brings more women to tech careers and empowers them to learn how to code. To date, the project impacted +20.000 women interested in technology, with master classes and workshops of different programming languages.
My role
My responsibilities were to plan the education activities and organize the first batches of volunteers as well as select participants in the courses. The website content and social media channels were also under my coordination, shared with other team members.

Project ideation (design thinking)
To define better the project aims and limitations, the Design Thinking techniques were used in a workshop format. The activity, conducted by me and another team member, generated the keywords that guided us in the development of the project.

Later on, I led the efforts to create a canvas business model that supported the project's next steps.
Communication strategy
Online and offline campaigns were the main tool to ensure the group would reach the biggest number of women and girls in the country.
The online and offline campaign #SerMulherEmTech ("being a woman in tech", in English), with activation in the social media and the Campus Party Brazil, had massive participation and until today is used in social media organically. The idea was to share stories of women that work with technology and portrait them as role models to the ones considering pursuing the career. I was the designer responsible for the campaign and created the visual identity and the materials that followed.
Content creation and volunteer supervision
To support the different activities of the team, I created different visual pieces and coordinated different work tasks with the volunteers of the PrograMaria network.
